第４回マルチ層配列セミナーのご案内

お世話になっております。横浜国立大学の藤野智子と申します。
学術変革領域研究(B)「マルチ層配列：分子層内外の電子-格子自由度制御に基づく超薄膜機能の新展開（ https://multiply.issp.u-tokyo.ac.jp/ ）」による対面－オンラインのハイブリッドでの講演会開催についてお知らせいたします。

第4回目となる今回は、Elsevier社が発行するApplied Surface Science誌のEditor-in-Chief (編集長)であるHenrik Rudolph教授に「主要学術誌の裏側 “載せられる それとも 葬られる?” Behind the scenes of a large scientific journal the downside of “Publish or Perish”」と題してご講演頂きます。

前半は、研究室に配属された学部生、大学院生向けに学術誌の意義についてわかりやすく説明いただき、後半は、研究者向けにEditorはどのような観点で採否を決めているかなど、論文投稿にとても役に立つお話をしていただきます。

【セミナー概要】本セミナーでは、まず主要学術誌の論文出版プロセスに関してわかりやすく説明します。論文投稿から、事前スクリーニング、査読、採否決定へと進み、これらのプロセスにおける著者、エディター、査読者の責任について理解することが大切です。さらに、採択率を上げるために最適な学術誌の選び方や、h-index、インパクトファクター、Citescoreといった重要な学術誌の指標について説明します。

KAKENHI Transformative Research Area (B) “Multiply Programmed Layers:
 Advanced Functionalities in Ultrathin Films through Electronic and 
Lattice Degree of Freedom Control” has been started on April 1st. 
“Multiply Programmed Layers” seminar series (admission free) will be 
held regularly.

The 4th seminar will be given online by Prof. Henrik Rudolph, an Editor
 in Chief of Applied Surface Science and Progress in Surface Science
 (Elsevier), on the topic of 'Behind the scenes of a large scientific
 journal the downside of “Publish or Perish” '.
The first half will provide undergraduate and graduate students in 
research groups with an easy-to-understand explanation of the significance
 of academic journals.
The second half will offer researchers highly useful insights for paper
 submission, such as the perspectives editors use to decide whether
 to accept or reject submissions.

【Abstract】
In this presentation, we will explore the key stages that a scientific
 publication undergoes at a large scientific journal. These include 
submission, pre-screening, peer review, and the initial decision process.
We will examine the responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers
 throughout these stages.
Additionally, we will discuss how to select the most suitable journal
 for your submission and offer strategies to maximize your chances of
 success. 
Finally, we will consider important bibliometric indicators, such as 
the h-index, impact factor, and Citescore.
